Overview of Our Combined Photo and Editing Tour

Our Combined Barcelona Morning Photo Tour + Editing & Workflow classes are an excellent way of combining an overview of the city, while improving your photographic skills from the start of the image-taking process all the way up to the final, edited image. A local, professional photographer will instruct you in the art of photography while you wander through the city’s narrow streets, open plazas and wide open boulevards. With more UNESCO World Heritage sites than any other city in Europe, a fabulous variety of Gothic, Bohemian, Modernist, and ultra-Modern architecture awaits the avid photographer visiting Barcelona.

This itinerary has been carefully designed to incorporate the most interesting sites, away from the typical tourist trail, and covers architectural, environmental portraits and street photography. We cover 3 neighbourhoods in this tour: The Ciudad Vella, Gothic Quarter and Raval district. In the Raval, after our morning tour through the city, we will head to our studio where you will be given a one-on-one instruction class on the basics of workflow and post-processing techniques through Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop.

The tours cater for beginners, advanced amateurs and semi-pro photographers. All of our tours are private tours for individuals, couples and small groups as we believe this makes for a more productive and enjoyable experience. We recommend this tour for individuals and couples.

Description of itinerary

The meeting point would be on the corner, outside the Zara store in Plaza Catalunya [Carrer de Bergara, 5, Barcelona 08002]. The meeting point can be found HERE.

From Plaza Catalunya, we will head down the Ramblas to visit to the Boqueria market – a visual delight for photographers! We will capture the colours and chaos as the locals go about their daily routine in this fantastic market. The Boqueria is a great site for environmental portraits, but also of the fabulous produce being sold.

From here, we will cut across the Ramblas and head towards the Gothic Quarter. Here you will step back in time through the small alleyways and courtyards filled with soft light and great atmosphere. The old stone walls, gargoyles, Gothic and Roman architecture are in stark contrast to the street performers we will pass by and will make for some stunning images. Within the Gothic quarter is the old Jewish Quarter and ancient synagogue. This small neighbourhood has some of the oldest habitable buildings in Barcelona.

On leaving the Gothic Quarter, we will head towards the Raval district: Skateboarders practicing their skills with modern architecture backgrounds, labyrinths of washing-clad facades, narrow streets containing Barcelona’s most ethnic communities, colourful, friendly locals happy to share a few words and have their shots taken – The Raval really is one of the highlights for photographers on their travels.

Our studio is located within the Raval, which allows us to maximise your time shooting before continuing to the next part of your image-taking process: Post-processing techniques within Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop. This 3 hour class also touches on the extremely important element of workflow for photographers. Elements that are covered include an overview of the modules, selection processes, image retouching and exporting files. The class begins with the selection of images taken during the morning, to exporting the final, processed image.

From the studio, your instructor will escort you back to Plaza Catalunya.
